Highlights of Bryce's year as a 6-year-old include

• beginning recorder lessons -- and playing in his first two concerts!
• playing Uno with anyone who'll join him
• flying through his maths textbooks (chapter a day, anyone?) and amazing us all with his computation skills (first math-brain in the family!)

Rearranging the House!

So, we have six girls and two boys. And a three-bedroom house. Right now, we four older girls are in the middle-sized bedroom, in two sets of bunks. Understandably, Mum and Dad are quite keen to get the two little girls out of their room! I thought triple bunks (as in three beds high) would be pretty cool, but Mum thought the girls' room was too small and didn't have enough ventilation for six of us. So . . . right now Mum and Dad are living in the lounge, while we paint and clean their room, and then all six of us will move in there, since it has two windows and is slightly larger. Jarrod's working on one set of triple bunks too :)

It's incredible how much stuff Mum and Dad managed to store in their room!
And that clothing on the chairs in front of the curtains all came out of their wardrobe because the ceiling needed painting in their too!

And the bedroom section of our lounge . . . !

Monique's Pressents

We gave Monique her pressents on April 7th. We had planned to do them sooner, but we didn't have many until then, and in fact we still didn't have them all! But one of them had a fast-approaching expiry date, so we couldn't wait any longer! lol

So...she got....a Bubbly chocolate bar (which Bryce had already sampled...but that's another story!), a handbag, mud cake (!) (yeah that's the one I mentioned previously! It worked well for the rest of us, cos we all got to help eat it!!! haha), a gift card to choose her own watch, and SS necklace with CZ, 2 Winnie the Horse Gentler books, chocolate edition Scrabble, horse stickers, and a smiggle mechanical pencil.

And I hadn't manage to find anything I really wanted to give her (as had happened with Danielle), so I gave her an Urban Angel top and a Toblerone, at a later date. =)

That's one great thing about having a higher-than-normal number of children(!), it means more pressents, because everybody gets to give one!!! haha :P

Botanical Gardens Visit

On Good Friday, while my Dad and Mr. Sonneveld were away on a father/son camp with Jarrod and Samuel, we invited the rest of the Sonnevelds to go for a walk at the Botanical Gardens with us. I'm not sure when I last went, but I know it was a LONG time ago!
