#MusicMonday

Oh, but somehow You don't see me like I do
Somehow You're still here

You're the God who stays
You're the God who stays
You're the one who runs in my direction
When the whole world walks away
You're the God who stands
With wide open arms
And You tell me nothing I have ever done can separate my heart
From the God who stays

How often do we feel insufficient, insecure, broken, hurt, confused, ashamed and all manner of other negative things? If we have Christ for our Saviour then He will stay throughout our trials. No matter how badly we feel. Regardless of how badly we've messed up in the past. Even when it feels like everyone in the whole word is deserting us, we have the God who stays right beside us.

10 on 10

10 on 10 is a collection of 10 images posted on the 10th of the month, captured the day before. No "special" session, just taking my camera with me as I go about my day and capturing art in everyday life, training my creative eye.

"And everybody knows emptiness
Everywhere they're all on a quest
But nobody seems to know
The reason for their restlessness

Everybody's lost in aimlessness
But Somebody brought hope to hopelessness
Now everybody needs to know
That they can know the Master of the quest"

Isn't it so true that most of the world is on a quest for something, but nobody really seems to know what that something is? Aimless dabbling in one pleasure after another provides temporary distraction, but no true fulfillment. From movies to novels, from scrolling social media to exercise, from yet another shopping spree to endless playlists, there are plenty of ways to mask the hopelessness, forget the aimlessness, and hide the emptiness. For a while. And after that, the quest continues.

The bad news is, attempting to distract ourselves like this is much like turning the stereo up, instead of taking the car to a mechanic and getting the source of that strange noise identified and fixed. The good news is, Somebody brought hope to hopelessness. We can know the Master of this quest. He is ready and waiting for us to come to Him so He can fill our emptiness, give us purpose in exchange for our aimlessness, and turn our hopelessness into hope. Jesus came to bring us rest from the quest. He's the one we're looking for.

I serve a Savior
It's what I was made for
His grace and love I don't deserve
I will be faithful
Humble and grateful
My life is greater 'cause I serve a Savior

I love finding tracks that combine a great message, quality vocals, and good musical appeal. This one is great for long drives in the country with the windows down and the music up. It's fun to sing along with and has a great message too. Just as cars and stereos work better when used like they're designed to be (without the handbrake on as you drive down the road, and no stones in the old cassette players!), we humans also function better when we live as we were designed to; to serve a Saviour. This world can be so full of heartache and pain, and before I met the Saviour it seemed empty and I had no peace. But now, my life is greater 'cause I serve a Savior.
